Perfectly
shaped eyebrows can do wonders to your face making your face look
more defined and sharp. With perfect eyebrows you can not only look
younger but you can also change the shape of your face.
Eyebrow shapes are always changing with fashion, from very full
to thin brows and straight to a high arch. However eyebrow should
be shaped as per the shape of your face.
Analysing
Your Facial shape
To
analyse your facial shape, pull your hair back from your forehead
so that you can get an overall picture of your eyebrows and examine
your bone structure carefully in a mirror. Pick out your key features
and then compare your analysis with the five different face shapes
shown below.
Square:
This shape is easily identified by its square jaw line and solid
bone structure. The cheekbones are flat and unnoticeable, while
the forehead tends to be wide and angled with plum cheeks. For a
square face, slope the eyebrows towards the middle of the ear. A
high arched brow elongates a square face.
Round:
Here, your cheeks, chin and forehead practically form a circle.
Your cheeks tend to be plump and full, obscuring the cheekbones.
For a round face, aim the end of the brow towards the tip of the
ear.
Heart:
Being
narrow at the bottom and broad at the top marks this face. Your
chin will be pointed and prominent. Cheekbones may be high, but
often are not so obvious because of the width of the face. For a
heart face, aim the eyebrows in a straight line towards the middle
of the ear in a slight slope.
Long:
This
shape will have either a long forehead or a long chin; distinct
drawn and rather raw-boned features are visible giving a tired look.
Cheekbones lack lift because of the length of the face. For a long
face, shape the brow in a straight line towards the tip of the ear.
Oval:
Oval
is a perfectly balanced face; the top half balances the bottom half.
For an oval face, the brow should curve down towards the lower ear.
Eyebrows
Shaping
Shaping
your eyebrows beyond basic grooming is best done by a professional.
Although, once you get the line and shape you want, you may be able
to maintain it with regular tweezing yourself. Tweezing your eyebrows
is the most dramatic way to change your face without too much pain
and discomfort. Following are a few tips that will help you shape
your eyebrows.
1.
Numb your eyebrows with ice and keep the ice near by. This will
help you feel less pain.
2.
Sit near a window to get the best light. Natural daylight is the
best bet, so sit near a window and use a hand-held magnifying mirror.
3.
Cleanse the brow area thoroughly. Using a brow pencil, outline the
brow's natural line. This acts as a guide and prevents you from
plucking too much hair.
4.
Gently pull the skin of the outer edge of your eyebrow
up and out so that you can see the brow bone.
5.
Use a pair of tweezers to pluck the hairs. Pluck out one hair at
a time, tweezing in the direction the hair grows. When you begin
tweezing, start at the middle of the brow and work towards your
ear, and then work from the middle in towards your nose.
6.
Start plucking in the middle of the eyebrow and pluck toward the
outer end; then go back to the middle and pluck toward the nose.
Your brows should extend a little beyond each corner of your eye.
7.
While tweezing the area underneath the brow, follow the natural
shape and avoid plucking hairs from above the brow. Don't pluck
too much from either end - brows should extend a little beyond the
corner of your eyes.
8.
When shaping your eyebrows use your facial features as
a guideline.
9.
After you finish tweezing your brows, wipe the area with a cotton
bud or swab dipped in some antiseptic lotion to avoid any infection.
Rub a piece of ice on the area if it feels sore.

BEAUTIFULL
LASHES & MASKARA TIPS |
Long,
sweeping eyelashes are a sign of glamour and femininity. Some are
born with it while some crave for it. Here are a few tips that will
help you have wonderful long and sexy eyelashes.
First of all make sure that your eyelashes
are clean of old mascara and completely dry before you start.
You can curl your eyelashes by using a metal or plastic lash
curler. Make sure to catch all the lashes at the same time in
the mouth of the curler and curl them upwards. Hold curler closed
against lashes for at least 5 seconds to set curl and then open
the scissor ends gently to release the curler.
Enhance the curl you've just achieved by applying mascara right
after curling.
For more curl or to refresh curl later in the day, stroke the
brush to the tips of lashes and hold there for 3-5 seconds,
at an upward angle.
Mascara
Tips
Create more length by sweeping colour, starting at the roots
to ends, in a long, smooth upward motion so colour is even to
the very tips. Try a lengthening formula.
Most mascaras are waterproof or water-resistant these days.
But for rainy days sunning or swimming, try a clear, waterproofing
topcoat.
Don't apply mascara when you're riding in a moving car or train--
to avoid eye injuries. Don't swap mascara with some one else
-- to avoid eye infections.
Gentle handling and removing makeup every night will promote
your lash growth. Use eye makeup remover with cotton balls before
you wash your face to remove mascara and other eye makeup before
you sleep. Gently wipe, don't scrub.
A basic black-brown or dark brown looks best on most women.
Black looks best on very dark brunettes.

DARK
CIRCLES & EYE EXERCISES |
Dark
circles occur under eyes due to a combination of reasons. It is
noticeable under the eye, as people get older. As we age and receive
more sun damage to our facial skin, the thin skin under the eye
can become thinner and wrinkled, which allows the veins in the fat
pad under the eye to become more prominent. As the skin here is
slightly darker than the rest of your face, any changes in health
show up immediately in this delicate area. Some people think that
they occur because they are either tired, or as a result of sun
exposure. This is not typically the case. Sometimes the dark spots
can be hormonal, but often they are just hereditary. Sometimes the
dark spots are caused by the reflections or shadows cast by the
bulges of fat that occur naturally in the lower eyelids as people
get older. If the bulging of fat is the cause of the dark circles
under the eyes, then cosmetic surgery to remove the fat bags is
the only approach that is typically effective, other than concealer
makeup.
There
are many contributing factors that make dark circles around the
eyes more noticeable.
Age
-
The skin covering the eyelids thins out as we age and starts to
loose its elasticity. With the skin being thinner the blood vessels
underneath become more apparent. To assist in collagen formation
and re-vitalizing your fragile skin around the eyes - please consider
taking an extra vitamin C (ascorbic acid) supplement, after checking
with your medical practitioner.
Heredity
-
Tendencies such as allergies or thinner eyelids pass on from generation
to generation.
Allergies
-
Although allergies are often
the blame for dark circles, anything that causes chronic nasal obstruction
can be the culprit. You might not have a major medical reaction
to an allergen, such as wheezing, couching, sneezing or a closed
chest - you could simple have a slightly stuffy nose, or swollen
eyes most of the times. Tests can be done to determine environmental
or food allergies with a simple skin scratch test, a blood test
or other alternative types of testing. If you have any of the tests
done, and they come up positive for any item that you could avoid
as far as possible, go the extra mile and try to cut the allergen
out of your sphere of living - be that either environmental or food
in origin. Vitamin C is effective in fighting allergies.
Fatigue,
tiredness or lack of sleep - Plain tiredness will also add to the
problem of bags under your eyes, and especially to those ugly dark
circles under the eyes. Have a look at the amount of hours you sleep
and also check on the amount of hours you work in front of your
computer or watch television - both these actions place a tremendous
strain on your eyes.
Smoking
-
You might not smoke yourself, but even secondary smoke can affect
the way your eyes look. Most people will have a violent reaction
to smoke, such as the eyes turning bloodshot or watery, while others
will manifest their allergy as swollen eyes. Take vitamin C as smoking
kills off large amount of this vitamin, every time you light up.
Ingesting
excess salt or sodium - Try
and cut down on eating raw salt as it could add to your problem
with water retention.
Fluid
retention -
Fluid retention can be a major cause of swollen eyes. Vitamin C
is a natural diuretic and an increase in this vitamin will not only
assists in removing excess water from your body, but will also assist
with collagen formation.
Other
reasons of dark circles are menstruation, pregnancy, thyroid and
over exposure to the sun.
Following
are few treatments for dark circle that will help alleviate or conceal
them.
Dip a cotton swab into freshly extracted mint juice, rosewater
or cold milk. Lie down with your feet raised higher than your
head, and then place the wet pads on your closed eyes. Stay
that way for 10 minutes. Do this everyday and you will start
seeing results before long.
Gently massage saffron or almond oil on the dark area before
going to bed.
-
Lie down and place a slice of cucumber or potato on each eyelid
for about fifteen minutes.
Follow a diet rich in iron, vitamins and proteins. Deficiencies
immediately show up as circles under the eyes.
You can also use a mixture of almond oil or cucumber juice with
lemon juice to lighten dark circles.
-
Drink lots of water and get plenty of rest.
Exercise
for the eyes
1.
Sit down and relax. Breathe normally, and look at a spot between
your eyes, above the bridge of your nose. Keep looking at this spot
for a count of five, and then relax the eyes. Next look at the tip
of your nose, also to the count of five and relax. This exercise
will ease the stress and tension and will relax your eyes.
2.
Sit down and relax and look straight in front of you. Inhale and
look right as far as possible, without turning your head. Slowly
come to the original position and exhale. Repeat the same method
for the left side. Do this exercise three times.
3.
Sit up straight and look down. Slowly inhale and start rolling your
eyes to the right and then to the top, in a circular movement. When
your eyes have reached the top, looking towards your eyebrows, start
exhaling while moving your eyes left and downwards in a circular
movement. Repeat three times.

Tips
for Contact Lens Wearers
Colored
contact lenses have become more and more popular as they become
more affordable and accessible. (Not to mention the rising popularity
of all the light-eyed celebrities: Ashwariya Rai, Hrithik Roshan,
Karisma and Kareena Kapoor, and so forth.). Similarly, more and
more people are also going for the more subtle vision correction
method: prescription contact lenses. Whether they are colored or
prescribed, many brides will wear contact lenses on their wedding
day. For all those who wear lenses, itchy eyes, protein build-up
and rewetting drops is nothing new. We at SeasonsIndia.com have
put together some tips which will help you to minimize irritation
and keep your eyes healthy.
Do
...
Clean your lenses regularly with saline solution and/or use
protein tablets to avoid protein build-up on the lenses.
Visit your optometrist at least once a year for routine check-ups.
This is important in maintaining good eye health and safe contact
lens wear.
-
Wash hands thoroughly before handling your lenses.
Put your lenses in before you put on make-up and take them out
before taking off your make-up
- .
Handle contact lenses over a clean towel. If your drop your
lenses, they will stay clean and undamaged, and you'll also
find them more easily!
Choose an oil-free moisturizer.
Store your lenses in the case made for them and keep the case
clean.
Blink your eyes frequently while under a hair drier or blower
to keep your eyes from getting too dry.
Don't
...
Use cream soaps. They can leave a film on your hands which can
transfer to the lenses.
Put contact lenses in your mouth or moisten them with saliva,
which is full of bacteria and a potential source of infection.
Use homemade saline solutions. Improper use of homemade saline
solutions has been linked with a potentially blinding condition
among soft lens wearers.
-
Use hand creams or lotions before handling contacts. They can
leave a film on your lenses.
-
Use waterproof mascara which cannot be easily removed with water
and may stain soft contact lenses.
Use hairspray after putting on your contacts. If you must, close
your eyes and spray.
- Keep
eyes closed for a few seconds after using hair spray.
And
our final piece of advice: DON'T forget how gorgeous you are!
